Although you don’t have the ability as an individual to tell your Captain where you want to go, the cruise schedule above is equally not fixed and is subject to change on a collectively agreed basis.
Mainly for this purpose each apartment is provided a computer terminal that is linked to the Captain and all other apartments.
This means that if Raffles on its way to Djakarta <S 6.10.44.98 – E 106.50.42.62> passing for example Tioman Island off Malaysia’s East coast <N2.48.24.69 – E 104.09.21.96> where the movie of South Pacific was in fact made, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith in apartment D12 decide it would be nice to stop and swim / explore it for a few days, then they simply put this proposal on their computer and broadcast it, including to the Captain.
The Captain will then add his comments advising also what effect it might have on the planned visit to Djakarta and everyone votes yes or no. The simple majority rules and Raffles stops at Tioman.
Because it has no real schedule and does not carry day paying passengers or really need to be anywhere at a specific time then such adjustment is easy to make, meaning for example in this case that the visit to Djakarta might be reduced from 8 days to 6 by the 2 days visit to Tioman.
Obviously such changes do have to take into account the planned for 3 monthly visits to a port for refuelling, restoring and to let people get on and off, but even here with modern communications such necessary visits can also be easily adjusted.
