THE EXCEPTIONAL LIFESTYLE

Choices and restrictions

Possibilities and choices are almost limitless in your apartment because of the exceptional range of available natural materials, textures, finishes, colours, and designs.

There are however a few constraints or restrictions concerning what goes into an apartment and they apply to all:

Each apartment is subject to a detailed flammability audit by Lloyd’s. Allowed use of highly flammable materials, plastics, synthetic foam, etc. is very limited.

Use of toxic materials that give off smoke or poisonous fumes is not permitted.

  • Reflecting the two restrictions above, maximum use is made of natural materials, marble, tiles, wood, goose down, silks, wools, slate, bronze, copper, granite, silver, etc. Upholstered furniture usually is inner sprung with limited or no synthetic fire padding.
  • With long term health in mind no noxious chemicals or adhesives are used.
  • Each owner’s personal allergies are considered before furnishing an apartment to preclude any use of unsuitable materials.
  • A very high level of sound and thermal insulation is provided to reduce energy use and make your life quiet and comfortable.
  • Windows are minimum double glazed and can be tinted.
  • Walls, if other or hard finishes are not applied, are covered with natural silk which can be hand painted or plain.
  • The apartment front door is steel with solid wood sheathing, position flexible.
  • Lighting unless otherwise ordered is always low energy consumption type.
  • EVAC vacuum toilets / bidets are limited in choice of design, but can be personalised with mahogany seats / cover(s).
  • Each apartment has to be an A60 space, meaning, that if an “A” class fire starts within, it cannot spread to adjacent spaces or materially affect the surrounding structure for 60 minutes.
Note: A120 is a two hour rating.
  • Hi-fog nozzles and heat / smoke detectors are required and cannot always be hidden.
  • Each apartment has its own stand alone air conditioning system controlled within the apartment. Ceiling fans can also be fitted.
  • Separate dry storage is nearby on the same deck for suitcases, winter clothes, sport gear, etc.
  • An internal intranet computer system is supplied to each apartment.
  • Two hand sets connected to the ships exchange / direct dial satellite phone are provided.
  • Individual preferences for hard or soft mattresses will be accommodated. Heavier occupants are supplied with mattresses of their choice, provided the request is made early enough.

Based on these factors some of the choices to be made include:
