NEVER STOP ASKING

Who is “behind” the Raffles concept?

Of the original group that first conceived the Raffles in 1986, three have since died and 6 people are still actively involved in a team that has now increased to 23.

Their combined experience obtained over the past 60 years is in excess of 400 years in designing, outfitting, building, owning and operating, professionally every imaginable type of ship, including normal cruise ships, the worlds largest sailing ship and dozens of the worlds mega yachts.

You can note that it is very rare for the designers of any ship to be able to obtain Professional Indemnity Insurance to the amount of 20 million but FVH / AMS has this cover thanks to their experience and conservatism.

However Raffles is not just a ship, it is also a home and to ensure that Raffles is both practical and also meets apartment owners realistic needs, then desires, all of the team have provided valuable input into all aspects of the vessels design and operation including:
5 Oxbridge (2 Oxford, 3 Cambridge) graduates, a Swedish Olympic (Los Angeles) yachtsman (who has 4 degrees), an international restaurateur, a nuclear physicist, various shipbuilders / engineers, a banker, lawyer, admiral, naval architects, a Master Mariner, economist, educator, quantity surveyors, an interior designer / sculptress, and an MBA!!! About 10 nationalities including Australian, Asian, Austrian, American, Canadian, English / Scots / Welsh and Swedish with them living worldwide, from Hong Kong to Australia, from coldest Canada to Texas and sunny Kenya.

With most aged in their 40’s to 70’s, over 900 years relevant experience has contributed to Raffles success not just as a “ship” but also as a sophisticated and interesting “home”.

As it is likely than one of them is living near to you a meeting can be arranged if of interest.
