NEVER STOP ASKING

How can we use the various boats, planes, vehicles, toys, etc. that Raffles carries?

Use of all such equipment either for pure recreation or to provide transport services will be regulated by the owners committee based on the recommendations of the Captain.

As a rule anything without an engine such as a wind surfer or bicycle will not attract any charge for its use.

The Stompcraft 38 even though it is a sailboat (and with an engine) will attract a charge as it requires extensive maintenance, replacement sails, ropes, etc. plus use of the 100 ton crane to deploy it.

Such as the 15 meter exploration boats, float plane and jet skis which require maintenance and fuel, etc. will be charged for on an hourly or daily basis. The aircraft it must be noted typically require special maintenance that the ships engineers have to be additionally trained and equipped to carry out.

Where the owners require a crew member to assist them or drive / pilot them as in the submarine, float plane or electric mini bus there will be an additional charge.

It is anticipated that many owners will have the necessary experience or licence to drive many boats / vehicles, even the float plane, or helicopter themselves. If not the Captain will institute training programs for at least a “ship’s” licence to do so.

Note that unlike Raffles such small equipments will not have a life of 100 years but some, such as the expedition boats and float plane with care will last 30 – 40+ years. It is also the cost of this care that is charged for, effectively as depreciation.

Note also that use of some items will involve either additional insurance costs or their use (and users) being excluded from the ships insurance cover.

While the owners committee will regulate the use of and charges for recreation equipment it will be the Captains final decision on when and how it can be used to satisfy safety concerns that also have to take into account the sea around Raffles or the condition of roads ashore.

The high speed ferry and water taxis Raffles carries for use at anchor will also be charged for (typically per passenger) with charges varying based on the distance from shore, time of day, day of week with them often involving paying crew additional / overtime to operate them. Plus probably additional port charges and insurance cover that may vary from country to country.

As owners via the owners committee you will in fact decide the final answer to this question.
