Ship quality is a three part judgment on:
Lloyd’s will award Raffles 23 class notations, which is more than any other vessel in existence and indicates clearly Raffles technical quality.
The two governments involved, Isle of Man (and Britain) are also recognized as demanding the highest technical standard for ships flying their flags. Isle of Man is most definitely not a flag of convenience, that many other shipowners use as a way to get by with lower standards (and costs) for both, the vessel and its operation.
A quick judgement on quality is also provided by FVH / AMS selection of the all European equipment, machinery and systems that go into Raffles. All suppliers including such as ABC Diesel, Converteam (ex UK GE), Voith – Schneider, Gill Jet, EVAC, Marioff, Schat-Harding, RDF, etc. are recognised world leaders and with hundreds of years history behind them.
While Lloyd’s are not directly concerned with Raffles level of luxury interior, Donald Starkey definitely is and his record in interior / exterior design work for mega yachts speaks for itself. Your guarantee of quality is that he will not be involved with anything less than the highest of standards.
Also your individual apartment will be individually described in minute detail in a full written specification / contract together with samples, drawings, sketches, hard and 3D CAD models, etc. to define exactly what quantity and quality you obtain.
A separate full scale standard apartment is also constructed and fully outfitted, used to establish minimum (workmanship) standards for the whole of Raffles.
The optional 5 year guarantee (which costs you nothing extra) is of course evidence of FVH / AMS confidence in Raffles quality, in every sense of the word. If you opt for this our ship management subsidiary will manage and operate Raffles for the same period. At the end of the 5 years Lloyd’s Register will again inspect Raffles to ensure that the guarantee conditions have been complied with and that she is effectively in, “as new” quality condition.
